My friend Mark and I visited several galleries. Museum of Arts & CraftsAn artist set up an area for people to create that includes scraps of fabric and other notions. Mark was ready to leave, so I very quickly made this tangled piece.  Minnesota Street GalleriesIncredible collages by Vik Muniz. Group Show Today I just worked on preparing black backgrounds for future collages.  Airy's mom joined us and she completed this collage.  In progress collage by Airy. On the way home, came across this rad mural.  I was hard-pressed to find anything that I loved.    I had extra cutouts left over from my previous collage, so I used them.  Most of you know that Sargent is one of my favorite painters and so I was extremely excited to see this show. Back in October of last year, I visited the Toledo Art Museum and discovered the artist, Ralph Albert Blakelock, who I instantly fell in love with. He sadly spent many years in a mental institution. Tonight I reviewed his work online.  This is the first painting I discovered of his at the Toledo Art Museum. My friend and I screwed around making paper after visiting the museum. It was really fun and I'm excited to try integrating spices into the paper.    I was not surprised that I'd love this show. It is completely over the top and decadent.  I had to revisit a few of my favorite paintings as well.    My friend and I stopped by the piers and I snapped a few pics. I played with low res pics and blurring. I found this small pop-up gallery in Hayes Valley and liked this work by Joseph "JD" Green.     Art quilt detail  I have worked in many wood shops and this just looks like one of the scrap bins. Once a year, the de Young Museum hosts an event where they invite florists to bring in flower arrangements to compliment some of the artworks. Afterward, my friend Airy and I sketched.    |
