LEGS PAINTING
Description:
Two paintings on wooden panels of dissected legs will compose a diptych. The background will be black and the legs will be painted upside down to maximize the effect of dripping paint.

1. Scan anatomy pictures for reference
I scan the photo reference and then remove the black background with Photoshop. Then I resize the finished scans and print them out.
2. Prepare sketches - 04/29/14
I play with some sketches and studies. At first I like using a black background, but since have thought of keeping it white. I'm still vacillating on this. I need to decide this soon, for I want to paint them upside down so that the drips run OVER the background.
3. Access layout - 04/29/14
I lay the printouts on my ungessoed panels to get a feel for the placement.
4. Begin another test painting - 04/29/14
I begin another full scale test painting because there are still questions about the background color and the application technique. I start with a sketch.
5. Prepare the panels - 09/22/2015
I start by preparing my panels using many layers of gesso and power sanding. I then paint the sides with black paint.
• Prepare the space - 12/15/2017
• First application of paint - 02/17/2018
• Start a second test painting - 03/29/2018
I like the transparency on the first test so, I will start another one to test for a thicker impasto version.
