• Draw sketch - 07/08/17
• Buy parts and paint - 07/28/17
• Add understructure and paint - 08/03/17
Today I drilled holes in the white half-sphere and wrapped string. This will give a foundation for the sugar crystals to grow on. I also decided to paint the base holder gold. Lastly, I pulled out my stash of lead and stared at it for many minutes. I find it so beautiful.
• Add more understructure and cast lead pieces - 08/04/17
First, I added more strings on the white half-sphere for the sugar crystals to grow on.
In the late 19th century, spiritualism was very popular. Molybdomancy is a technique of divination using molten metal, which I am using to symbolize man's fears of death. I've used this technique before and they are always beautiful. These pieces will be attached to the underneath side of the black half-sphere.

I added some wire holders on the black half for the lead pieces. Also, I figured out how to hold the white half during the accumulation of sugar crystals.
• Created a transportation box and experimented - 08/04/17
Experimented with striping tape, but will probably use tiny, gold half-spheres along the connection.
I added black beads to the wire.
• Finished transportation box and began the accumulation process - 08/30/17
Created sugar solution with 5 lbs. of sugar.
Added the first layer of tar and dirt.
• Add more tar - 09/03/17
• Make additional armatures for sugar crystals - 09/28/17
I'm quite disappointed that the sugar crystals do not seem to be forming in the really large container, so today I started making 5 smaller hanging armatures for growing sugar crystals.
