I went to the SFAI free figure drawing session tonight with artist friends, Eric R., Nikki, amd Erin F. There are a few things I like about my drawings, but each one seems to need more work on integrating the figure. They seem too disjointed. I'm looking forward to attending again in June.

Tonight the art store Dick Blick was having a special drawing event. It was a free 30 min. live drawing session, a short 5 minute demonstration by an atelier artist, and two drinks. I attended the gathering with my artist friend Scott Tsuchitani. It was short, but fun.
Tonight I began by attending a free tasting of Laphroiag with my artist friend Scott Tsuchitani. Of course, I sampled each of them with my favorite being the 2011 special reserve.
Afterwards, I went to the free live drawing event at SFAI. The model was Barbara who I have painted and drawn 10 years ago. She is one of my favorites, however I don't think these drawings reflect that. I attended a figure drawing session with my friend Eric. The model was quite good and ended up with a few interesting gestures. I always find that the shorter poses produce the best results. When it comes to the 20 minutes poses, I get finicky and am no longer responding to the moment. The end result is a chaotic, disharmonious mess. I have remedied this by breaking the 20 minute poses into several shorter drawings.
Sarah returned the W magazine to me and I painted another white model. It also inspired me to make a quick watercolor as well.
