Three artists and myself met today to begin working through Eric Maisel's book Fearless Creating. I love his use of the phrase "burning curiosity", which I've always felt is a strong quality that I possess. I also shared that when I began to introduce myself to others as an artist, it completely changed my creative process. The intro's exercise was to "switch gears" by immediately getting up and spending 30 minutes on an art project. I started by cutting out the pattern pieces for the mourning armbands I am designing. It was difficult at first to get up, but once I started, then it was easy. My week's goals: 1) Spend 15 minutes on Artist in Residency programs 2) Pour first casting 3) Sharpen knife for 20 minutes 4) Carve one torch 5) Mock up armband 6) Work on art binders for 15 minutes |
